Grid Of Transit

Multicoloured shipping containers stacked in a tall grid behind a wire fence, with scrubby green plants in the foreground at a port in Melbourne.

Grid Of Transit. 2021.

Stacked containers fill the frame from edge to edge, a tight grid of colour and rust that turns the port into something almost woven. Corporate logos, warning symbols and dents repeat across the surface, small variations that hint at long journeys and hard handling. The narrow sliver of fence and scrub at the bottom brings the scene back to ground level, a reminder that this abstract pattern is also a working threshold where goods enter and leave the city.
